Weigela ‘Minuet’ is a compact and highly ornamental variety, valued for its elegant shape and abundant flowering. It reaches 200–250 cm in height and 150–200 cm in width, forming a dense, rounded shrub with stiff, upright shoots. From early spring the plant looks attractive thanks to its green leaves with a subtle purple tint, which take on deeper shades in autumn.

From May, the shrub becomes covered with numerous ruby‑pink, funnel‑shaped flowers, lightly fragrant and gathered in decorative clusters. During peak bloom, the flowers almost completely hide the foliage. In mid‑summer the plant may bloom again, though less profusely. ‘Minuet’ remains decorative throughout the entire season — from the first young leaves to the autumn colour change.

It is an excellent choice for small gardens, where strong visual effect is needed in limited space. The flowers attract bees and butterflies, adding ecological value.

Cultivation

Weigela is easy to grow and tolerant of different soils. It performs best in:

• moderately moist soil,

• humus‑rich soil,

• well‑drained substrate.

It flowers most abundantly in full sun; in partial shade the number of flowers is noticeably reduced.

After flowering, it is recommended to prune the shoots that carried flowers, which encourages branching and improves flowering the following year.

In colder regions the shrub may freeze back, but it regenerates well from the base and quickly regrows in spring.
