A strong creeper that self-clings to walls, low-maintenance, and healthy. The leaves are dark green, arranged in a roof-like pattern, and beautifully change to scarlet-red in the fall, especially in sunny locations. It reaches 10-20 m (1-2 m per year). Particularly useful for covering buildings and fences, but also suitable for planting by gazebos, pergolas, and other supports. An excellent ground-cover plant. Can be used on balconies.
