The ‘Kordia’ sweet cherry is one of the most popular varieties grown in Polish orchards. It is valued for its rapid growth in the first years, early fruiting and very stable yields. After the juvenile phase, the trees slow down noticeably, which makes crown management easier and reduces maintenance work. To achieve high and regular crops, the variety requires a pollinator. It performs best when planted near cultivars such as ‘Hedelfingen’, ‘Sam’, ‘Schneider Late’ or ‘Van’.

Large, dark, export‑quality fruits ‘Kordia’ is known for its exceptionally large, heart‑shaped fruits with a deep red‑brown colour. The flesh is firm, crunchy and highly aromatic, while the thin skin—despite its delicacy—does not crack in rainy weather. The juice is intensely red, making the fruits excellent for processing. The harvest period falls in mid‑July, at the beginning of the eighth cherry ripening week. Fruits can reach up to 12 g, surpassing popular varieties such as ‘Summit’ and ‘Burlat’. Thanks to their durability and resistance to transport, ‘Kordia’ cherries are highly valued for export and make up a significant share of wholesale market offerings. Why grow it? Low susceptibility to diseases – ideal for growers seeking low‑maintenance varieties. High market value – prices at markets often exceed 15 PLN/kg. Long harvest window – up to 6–8 weeks, longer than ‘Regina’. High profitability – growing ‘Kordia’ can increase orchard income by around 20% compared to traditional varieties.
