In spring, the tree impresses with its intensely red foliage, which gradually turns green with a subtle burgundy tint in summer. The flowers are large and single, initially deep pink, then gently lightening as they open. In autumn, the tree becomes adorned with numerous small, dark burgundy fruits that remain on the branches long after the leaves have fallen, giving it a distinctive winter charm.
The cultivar was bred in 1938 at the Kórnik Arboretum by Antoni Wróblewski and remains one of the most beautiful Polish ornamental crabapple selections.
