Carex comans 'Frosted Curls' originates from New Zealand, where it typically grows in vast meadows and pastures. It forms dense clumps of arching, silvery-green, thread-like leaves with slightly curled tips that create a visual effect resembling frost. This is a low-growing variety, reaching 30–50 cm in height. It produces beige, non-ornamental flowers from May to August. It requires sheltered locations and humus-rich, consistently moist soil, especially during the growing season. Prefers sunny or lightly shaded sites protected from wind. The plant is frost-resistant, but in colder regions of Poland, it is recommended to mulch or cover it with fir branches. In spring, any frost-damaged leaves should be removed. It looks stunning in modern garden designs, gravel gardens, traditional rock gardens, and in containers on balconies and terraces.
