An interesting sedge variety distinguished by its characteristic palm‑like arrangement of leaves, which grow directly from the stem. It originates from moist, bright forests of North America, where it forms dense clumps. The leaves are fairly broad and short, densely arranged along long shoots, and feature a distinctive white‑cream stripe. The plant reaches a maximum height of 60–80 cm. It blooms from June to August, producing very attractive brown‑black ornamental spikes. In nature, it grows in moist meadows, so in the garden it is suitable for sunny but moist locations (although it also tolerates drier spots) and can handle partial shade. This variety is resistant to diseases, frost‑hardy, and withstands temperature drops down to –40°C. It is a perennial, very easy to grow, and decorates the garden all year round. After the first frosts, the plants only need to be covered with a layer of leaves, bark, or pine branches directly on the beds.
