Carex 'Buchananii' reaches a mature height of 40–60 cm. It has slender, arching leaves in a reddish-brown color. It is not difficult to grow, but it prefers a sunny or semi-shaded location and well-drained, light soil that remains moist in summer and dries out in winter. During the winter, it should be protected from harmful low temperatures. The crown should be covered with straw, leaves, or sawdust. Due to its unique color and original appearance, Carex buchananii has many uses in the garden. It is recommended for planting in home gardens, ideally as a contrast to colorful plants. It looks great in gravel gardens and near water features. It can also be grown in containers on balconies.
