The Ice Dance grass variety is an evergreen perennial forming wide and dense clumps composed of characteristic leaves. They are narrow, about 2 cm wide, light green with white stripes along the edges. The variety spreads very quickly, so only 5 plants per m² are needed. The perennial grows 20–50 cm in height and 45 cm in width. In addition to its decorative habit and foliage, the plant also produces attractive inflorescences in the form of spikes with yellow stamens reaching 40 cm in height. They appear from May to June. It is not very demanding. It colours nicely in both sunny and shaded positions. It does not like cold, gusty winds and prefers sheltered places. It needs humus-rich garden soil that is well-drained and moist, with a pH ranging from acidic to alkaline. It is not fully frost-resistant, so it requires winter protection. Care is extremely simple and consists of cutting or trimming frost-damaged leaves in spring and watering in summer, especially when grown in a pot, as the plant does not tolerate drying out.
