Purple variety of large-flowered rose. Its large flowers with a subtle fragrance perfectly complement the large, dark green, leathery leaves. Ideal for cut flowers and planting in containers. Blooms from June to October. Flowers measure 8-10 cm in size. Additionally, this variety has very good resistance to diseases and low temperatures. It grows best in loamy-sandy soil with a high humus content. The soil should have a pH of 6.5.
Conditions and requirements – The variety requires sunny or partially shaded locations. It is easy to grow and not demanding. For strong growth and lush flowering, it needs moist, well-fertilized soils. Fertile garden or humus-rich soils are ideal.
Care – Climbing roses should be planted at a distance of 20 cm from the support, allowing the shrub to climb and protecting the roots from drying out. The planting density should range between 60 cm and 1 m. The shoots of the rose can climb a pergola or tree by clinging with their thorns. However, they often need to be tied to the support.
The climbing variety should be pruned heavily each year, removing faded shoots and thin, long branches growing at the base of the shrub. To encourage branching, it is recommended to shorten some of the two-year-old shoots by half. This will stimulate the plant to grow faster and produce new shoots.
The variety requires winter protection by mounding the base of the shrubs and covering the shoots. It grows well in Polish conditions.
Usage – As a lush flowering climbing plant, it works perfectly with various supports, trellises, pergolas, or along building walls and fences, creating dense green walls. The variety can also be planted in containers, making it a great decoration for balconies and terraces.
