Beautifully flowering evergreen, long-lived shrub, growing up to about 1.6 m. A fast-growing variety. The plant originates from Asia. It features bell-shaped flowers, up to several centimeters long, gathered in inflorescences (even dozens of individual flowers) with a diameter of up to 20 cm. The inflorescences appear at the ends of the shoots.
Usage: The leaves are large, leathery, shiny, do not fall off in winter, but may curl into a roll under the influence of cold. Some varieties may be covered with a light fuzz. A very healthy variety with high frost resistance.
Blooming: The shrub blooms abundantly from April to May. After flowering, the inflorescences should be removed, as leaving them on the shrub weakens it. The flowers are a distinct blood-red color. The petal edges are wavy and fringed.
Care: Rhododendrons prefer loose soil mixed with peat and an acidic pH. The soil should maintain constant moisture. It is recommended to water them with rainwater.
Position: Rhododendrons prefer sheltered, semi-shady, and shady locations. When planting in full sun, more peat should be added to the soil and moisture should be maintained to ensure more abundant blooming and optimal growth. It is best to plant them in groups. They can grow under large shrubs.
