A beautifully flowering evergreen, long-lived shrub, growing up to about 1.8 m. A fast-growing variety. The plant originates from Asia. It is characterized by bell-shaped flowers, up to several centimeters long, gathered in inflorescences (sometimes dozens of individual flowers), with a diameter of up to 20 cm. The inflorescences appear at the ends of the shoots.
Application: The leaves are large, leathery, shiny, and do not fall off in winter, but under the influence of cold, they may curl into a roll. Some varieties may be covered with a light fuzz. A very healthy variety with high frost resistance.
Flowering: The shrub flowers abundantly from April to May. After flowering, the inflorescences should be removed, as leaving them on the shrub weakens it. The flowers are lilac-pink. The edges of the petals are wavy and frayed.
Care: Rhododendrons prefer loose soil mixed with peat and with an acidic pH. It is important to maintain constant soil moisture. They should be watered with rainwater.
Position: Rhododendrons prefer sheltered, semi-shaded, or shady places. When planting in full sun, more peat should be used in the soil and moisture should be maintained to ensure more abundant flowering and optimal growth. It is best to plant them in groups. They can grow under large shrubs.
