This is an evergreen, dwarf plant with a compact habit. It has small, gray-green leaves that release a pleasant, spicy fragrance when rubbed. This rhododendron has flowers in various shades of bluish and purplish hues. The flowers are funnel-shaped. It blooms at the end of April and at the beginning of May. It prefers a semi-shaded location but also does well in full sun. It thrives in a sheltered spot, protected from strong and cold winds. The soil should be fertile, humus-rich, moderately moist, and acidic.
Application: Suitable for planting in home gardens, rock gardens, heath gardens, flower beds, etc.
Flowering: The leaves are 7 to 9 cm long, dark green and glossy on the top, naked on both sides. The flowers are bell-shaped, scarlet red, with a delicate brown pattern on the upper petal, slightly ruffled on the edges, 4.5 to 5.5 cm in diameter, gathered in loose, terminal clusters of 3-6 flowers. It blooms relatively early, at the end of April and in the first decade of May.
Care: Requires semi-shaded or shaded locations and acidic, moderately moist, humus-rich soils. When planting in full sun, it is necessary to use a larger amount of peat in the substrate and maintain moisture to ensure more abundant flowering and optimal growth.
