An azalea with a compact habit. After 10 years, it grows up to 50 cm in height and about 80 cm in width. It has large, dark green leaves that do not fall in winter. The flowers are purplish-violet with dark purple inside. It blooms in the second half of May. The plant is fairly frost-resistant. It prefers semi-shaded positions but also does well in full sun. The position should be sheltered from strong and cold winds. The soil should be fertile, moderately moist, humus-rich, and acidic.
Application: Suitable for planting in home gardens, rock gardens, heath gardens, flower beds, etc.
Blooming: The leaves are 7 to 9 cm long, dark green and shiny on the top, bare on both sides. The flowers are bell-shaped, scarlet red, with a delicate brown pattern on the upper petal, slightly wavy on the edges, 4.5 to 5.5 cm in diameter, gathered in loose, apical inflorescences of 3-6 flowers. It blooms relatively early, at the end of April and in the first decade of May.
Care: It requires semi-shaded or shaded positions and acidic, moderately moist, and humus-rich soils. When planting in full sun, a larger amount of peat should be used in the substrate and moisture should be maintained to ensure more abundant blooming and optimal growth.
