Rhododendron ‘Maruschka’, also known as Azalea ‘Maruschka’, originates from Japan. It is a small, wide shrub that blooms profusely in late May and June. It grows to only 30-40 cm in height and about 70 cm in width. Rhododendrons should be planted in slightly shaded, wind-sheltered spots. They should be planted in acidic, humus-rich, and well-draining soil. Rhododendrons are planted in spring and should be watered regularly.
Rhododendron 'Maruschka', also known as Azalea 'Maruschka', originates from Japan. It is a small, wide shrub that blooms profusely in late May and June. It grows to only 30-40 cm in height and about 70 cm in width.
Blooming: 'Maruschka' has funnel-shaped small flowers, darker in the center, gathered at the tips of the branches. Additionally, they do not fade in the sun. The rhododendron, with its dark green leaves in summer and brown-red coloring in autumn, which remain on the plant during the winter, decorates the garden all year round.
Soil: The plant requires acidic soils with a pH of 4-5.5. The substrate should be moist but well-drained and contain a lot of organic matter. After planting the shrubs, the soil surface can be mulched with pine bark to reduce water evaporation, weed growth, and protect the roots from freezing.
Exposure: The shrubs should be planted in a sheltered, wind-protected spot as they are not fully frost-resistant.
