Rhododendron ‘Nova Zembla’ A beautifully flowering, evergreen, long-lived shrub growing up to 2–3 m. It features bell-shaped flowers up to several centimeters long, gathered in inflorescences (with even several dozen individual flowers). Rhododendrons are planted in slightly shaded, wind-protected areas. They should be planted in acidic, humus-rich, and well-draining soil. Rhododendrons are planted in spring and should be regularly watered.
Usage: It is perfect for home gardens, parks, or heathlands.
Flowering: The flowers are ruby-red, with a distinct brown-red pattern on the upper petal, broadly funnel-shaped, 6 to 7 cm in diameter, gathered in 13-17 pieces in dense, rounded, terminal inflorescences. It blooms reliably every year from the second half of May. The leaves are dark green, glossy, slightly wavy at the edges, and do not fall off in winter, but may curl into a roll when exposed to cold.
Care: It requires semi-shaded or shaded positions, and acidic, moderately moist, humus-rich soils. When planting in full sun, it is necessary to add more peat to the substrate and maintain moisture to ensure more abundant flowering and optimal growth. It is good to plant them in groups. They can grow under large shrubs.
