Care and requirements: Requires sheltered, warm, and sunny locations. Prefers fertile, well-drained, moist soil with a neutral pH. In summer, water abundantly but rarely, 1-2 times a week. It tolerates misting, but not under full sunlight. Fertilizing should be quite abundant, once a month with a liquid fertilizer rich in potassium.
Flowering: It has light cream flowers with a pistil featuring distinct dark red stigmas. It blooms in the first year of cultivation. Flowers pollinated by the pollen of another specimen produce beautiful fruits. The flowers have a very pleasant fragrance. It blooms from June to the end of September, with flowers approximately 12 cm in diameter. It produces edible fruits, rich in vitamin C, whose pulp is used to make juices, jellies, and cooling drinks. The leaves are semi-evergreen with 5-7 deeply lobed segments.
Pruning: It is recommended to cut all frozen and undesirable stems in April. By shortening the stems by one-third, you encourage faster growth.
Wintering: This variety is less sensitive to frost (down to -10°C). When growing Passiflora in a pot, it should be kept in a cool room with a temperature of around 10-15°C. During this time, all the leaves may fall off. Water once every few weeks, checking the condition of the soil. In spring, shorten the stems by one-third, gradually increasing the water supply. In the second half of May, move the plant to the garden once the risk of frost has passed.
Uses: This variety climbs using tendrils. It is recommended for cultivation in containers on terraces, balconies, and in conservatories, as well as planted in gardens near supports.
