It forms dense clumps of arching, overhanging leaves. The inflorescences usually appear after three years of cultivation. The plumes are silver‑grey and reach up to 40 cm in length. The pampas grass ‘Evita’ blooms from July until late autumn. It prefers sunny, warm locations sheltered from strong and cold winds. It does not tolerate waterlogging — in such conditions it begins to rot and eventually dies. The soil should be fertile and well‑drained. The grass is sensitive to frost, so it should be protected for the winter. When grown in containers, it should be moved for winter into a cool, bright place, such as a garden shed, cellar, or terrace. In spring, it should be cut back low to the ground.
