It forms dense clumps with arching, pendulous leaves. Fluffy, showy flower plumes usually appear after three years of cultivation. The plumes are white and reach about 40 cm in length. ‘White Plume’ blooms from July until late autumn. It prefers sunny, warm locations sheltered from strong and cold winds. This variety needs plenty of space. It does not tolerate waterlogging, which causes the plant to rot and die. The soil should be fertile, well-drained, and moist. Sensitive to frost, it should be covered for winter. When grown in containers, it should be moved to a cool, bright place for winter, such as a veranda, cellar, or terrace. In spring, cut it back low to the ground.
