The ornamental grass 'Heidelberka' forms tall, dense clumps of 45cm leaves in a dark shade of green. In August, rigid flower stems grow from the clump. These tall stems, above the leaves, reach up to 140cm. The narrow panicle-like flower clusters start out light-colored, later turning dark red. In autumn, the entire clump turns amber and decorates the garden even in winter.

Blue fescues prefer moist, sunny locations. They can also grow in partial shade, where it is easier to maintain a moist soil. This grass likes fertile, humus-rich soils with an acidic to neutral pH. Blue fescues are native grasses, so they are fully frost-resistant in our conditions. Care is limited to the spring removal of last year's seed heads.
