To produce fruit, both male and female plants must be planted. Grows up to 4 m, with an annual growth of about 1 m. Very frost-resistant. It is a dioecious plant.
Use: Best planted near pergolas, arbors, walls, etc., as its shoots twine around supports. Can also be grown in containers on balconies and terraces as an ornamental climber with colorful foliage.
Flowering: Leaf coloring appears 2–3 years after planting. Blooms in May with small, white flowers that smell slightly of lemon.
Care: Prefers sunny locations. Easy to grow. Acidic soil. Resistant to diseases and pests.
Pruning: Prune in late autumn or winter (before vegetation begins), or in summer after partial wood formation, as the plant "bleeds" when cut too early.
