Japanese variety of magnolia distinguished by the highest resistance to unfavorable weather conditions and air pollution. It takes the form of a tree (up to 10 m tall) with a wide pyramidal crown.
Application: Most commonly recommended for large gardens and for single plantings in parks and urban greenery.
Blooming: Blooms from April to May. Flowers are creamy yellow in full bloom. Leaves appear after the flowers.
Exposure: Southern, sheltered, warm, and protected location.
Care: Magnolia requires fertile, slightly acidic, nutrient-rich soil, although this variety will tolerate neutral or slightly alkaline soil. Due to its shallow root system, plant it not too deeply in a substrate mixed with compost. Mulch with pine bark to a depth of about 5 cm. It does not tolerate drought well, so regular and fairly abundant watering is necessary. In winter, cover and mound young seedlings, while older plants are fully frost-resistant.
Pruning: It does not like pruning. Only dry, dead shoots should be removed.
