A very interesting variety of magnolia. Not tall (up to 3 meters), quite frost-resistant. It blooms for a long time and abundantly, with flowers appearing before the leaves. The color is pink-purple. The soil should be fertile and slightly acidic.
A very interesting variety of magnolia. Not tall (up to 3 meters), quite frost-resistant. It blooms for a long time and abundantly, with flowers appearing before the leaves.
Application: Suitable for any garden, looks best when grown individually. Due to its relatively small size, it is also suitable for containers and pots on terraces.
Blooming: Blooms in May, sometimes single flowers appear in summer until winter. The flowers are cup-shaped, single, large, purple on the outside, pink and white on the inside, and develop at the tips of the branches, with a delicate fragrance. The leaves are light green and fall in winter.
Exposure: Southern, sheltered, warm, and protected location.
Care: Magnolia requires fertile, slightly acidic soil, rich in nutrients. Due to its rather shallow root system, it should be planted not too deep in a substrate mixed with compost. Mulch with pine bark to a thickness of about 5 cm. It is beneficial to fertilize it with special preparations for acid-loving plants. It does not tolerate drought well, so regular and quite abundant watering is necessary. In winter, cover and mound the plant.
Pruning: It does not like pruning. Only dry, dead shoots can be removed.
