Its natural habitat includes Hungary, the Eastern Carpathians, and the Balkans. It is a shrub with well-shaped, upright branches, growing up to 4 meters in height. Its flowers are dark purple, gathered in dense, narrow, upright panicles reaching 20 cm in length. It is resistant to droughts and frosts. It blooms later than common lilac, with flowers appearing in May and June. It prefers sunny or partially shaded positions. Like most lilacs, it has no soil requirements. It grows in any average garden soil.
Application: Suitable for every garden. Due to its high tolerance of pollution, it can be used in public greenery. When planted in a row, it creates a beautiful, fragrant hedge. Cut lilac branches are suitable for bouquets and vases.
Blooming: May and June.
Position: Sunny, or partial shade.
Care: Does not require special treatments, grows best in fertile, well-drained soil with a neutral or slightly alkaline pH.
Pruning: It is recommended to immediately remove faded inflorescences. This treatment promotes more abundant blooming the following year.
