The Laburnum is a small tree or tall shrub from the legume family, growing up to 4-6 m. It is cultivated for its characteristic, very ornamental flowers. It is a beautiful plant but toxic.

Application: Laburnum can be planted singly or in groups. When planted in rows, it can create the so-called "golden rain" effect. It is suitable for growing on arches, supports, and pergolas. Due to the toxic properties of the entire plant (leaves, flowers, seeds, sap), it should not be planted in places where children play.

Blooming: May - June. The flowers are odorless, nectar-rich, golden-yellow, butterfly-shaped, and collected in dense clusters 15-20 cm long. The leaves consist of three individual, dark green leaflets arranged similarly to clover. The seeds are the most toxic part of the plant.

Care: It grows best in sunny, moist spots and must be sheltered from strong winds in winter. It needs fertile, alkaline soil. You can fertilize it with compost and mulch with bark.

Pruning: It does not require heavy pruning, but it can be pruned for maintenance in late summer.
