Flowering jasmine is one of the most commonly found jasmines, belonging to the olive family. It was introduced to Europe in the 16th century. It is easy to grow, but in winter, it should be kept indoors because it is not frost-resistant (down to -5°C). The flowers grow in small clusters at the tips of the shoots. It blooms from June to October. It has a very intense fragrance. Flowering jasmine grows up to 3 meters. It prefers a warm, sunny location, sheltered from freezing and strong winds.

This evergreen shrub naturally grows up to 4 meters in height. When growing jasmine in a pot, we can prune it as needed.

Use: It is cultivated as an ornamental plant. The flowers provide jasmine oil, used in perfumery as a primary fragrance raw material. It is grown on supports.

Flowering: The flowering period lasts from early summer to autumn. During this time, white and wonderfully fragrant flowers appear at the ends of the shoots.

Caring: The location should be well-lit throughout the year, but it should not be exposed directly to sunlight. The optimal temperature in summer is 20-22°C during the day, and 10-13°C at night. During summer, jasmines can be placed in the garden in a sheltered spot away from winds. Jasmine should be watered with soft water, regularly but not excessively, and sparingly in winter. Also, remember to provide the plant with proper support so it can climb up. They require humus-rich soil. Vines planted in the ground should be hilled up and covered with spruce mulch before the first frosts.

Pruning: When the flowering period ends, it should be strongly pruned (to half its length) as this promotes bushiness and ensures more abundant flowering.
