€7.99

'Seyval Blanc' is one of the most valued white grape varieties cultivated in Polish vineyards. Its popularity is due to the vine’s exceptional resilience and the high quality of the wines it produces. Originating from France, it is often referred to as the "Chardonnay among hybrids". High resistance to fungal diseases, low temperatures, and harsh conditions make Seyval Blanc suitable for cultivation in any region of Poland. It is a very productive grapevine with moderately vigorous growth. Prefers warm, sunny locations sheltered from strong, cold winds. The best soil for grapes is fertile, sandy-loamy, and slightly moist.

Flowering: Small, pale flowers appear in early June. This is a self-pollinating variety. The leaves are medium-sized, 3-lobed, and slightly serrated. During summer, they are intensely green, turning golden yellow in autumn.

Ripening and fruiting: This variety produces a very abundant yield. Fruits reach full maturity in mid-October. The berries are medium-sized, round, light green with thin skins. In well-sunlit locations, the grape skin develops a slight pink blush. Clusters are medium-sized, weighing around 170g. A single berry weighs approximately 1.68g. The flesh is juicy, with a sweet-wine flavor.

Growing conditions: Like most grapevines, 'Seyval Blanc' requires sunny or semi-shaded spots sheltered from the wind. Proper sunlight exposure promotes healthy growth and higher yields. It tolerates various soils but prefers sandy, moderately moist substrates with slightly acidic pH.

Care: A fast-growing variety with strong vigor that requires regular pruning. The length of pruning depends on the soil. On fertile soils, longer pruning and single- or double-arm training is recommended. On poorer soils, shorter cuts are advised. 'Seyval Blanc' is highly frost-resistant, withstanding temperatures down to about -26°C. Due to its strong resistance to fungal diseases, it can be cultivated without chemical protection.

Use: 'Seyval Blanc' is a processing grape variety, ideal for sparkling wine. The wines are light, fruity, and fresh, with dominant aromas of green apple, citrus, melon, peach, mango, kiwi, herbs, and wildflowers. Although Seyval Blanc wines can mature in oak barrels, they are typically stored in stainless steel tanks to preserve their freshness and liveliness.
