A vigorous climber with female flowers. If a male variety grows nearby, it produces fruit that is not very tasty for humans but attractive to birds. The leaves are light green, turning yellow in autumn. Climbs using tendrils. A low-maintenance, drought- and salt-tolerant, frost-resistant plant. Suitable for covering high fences, pergolas, and unsightly buildings. Especially useful in large gardens and for covering large surfaces, including sound barriers. An ideal vine for cultivation in the Polish climate.
A vigorous climber with female flowers. If a male variety, such as 'Tomek', is planted nearby, it will produce fruit that is not very palatable for humans but attractive to birds. Leaves are light green, turning yellow in autumn. Climbs by tendrils. A low-maintenance plant, tolerant of drought and salinity, and frost-resistant. Suitable for covering high fences, gazebos, unattractive buildings, and especially useful in large gardens or for covering large surfaces such as screens. An ideal vine for the Polish climate. Extremely resistant to frost, pollution, drought, diseases, and pests. Fragrant grapevine grows rapidly, with annual shoot growth of about 1–2 meters.
Flowers and fruit: A dioecious plant. Female flowers are small, white-green, in compound umbels. Male flowers are numerous, intensely fragrant, yellow-green, in clusters. Fruits are edible, but their tart flavor makes them more appreciated for decorative value. Small, round, black-purple berries are gathered in large clusters and ripen in autumn.
Care: In early November, cover the base of the vines with soil (peat), forming a mound about 30 cm high to protect several of the lowest buds. In the first year, the plant is trained with a single shoot. Pruning in following years depends on the chosen training and pruning method.
Planting: Plant 10–15 cm deeper than the depth in the nursery pot. Smaller plants should be placed in a slight depression and covered with soil only in autumn. This planting method significantly increases the vine's frost resistance.
