Use: The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and for processing into juices, liqueurs, jams, and jellies. Shrubs can be planted individually or as a fruiting hedge.
Flowering and fruiting: Flowering occurs in April (pink flowers). Jostaberry fruits on one-year-old shoots. Each berry is round, with smooth skin in eggplant color. Fruits grow in small clusters. The taste is slightly tart, with a distinct berry aroma. Up to 5 kg of fruit can be harvested from one bush.
Care: Jostaberry has no special soil requirements. It grows best in slightly acidic, consistently moist soils in sunny locations.
Pruning: After planting (can be planted year-round from containers), cut back to 3–4 buds above the ground. Each year, remove weak, crossing, and sprawling shoots.
