Forsythia Flojor blooms very profusely. The blooming starts at the end of March or the beginning of April. The first dark yellow flowers with wide petals and a length of about 5 cm appear along the entire length of the leafless branches. The leaves are simple, arranged opposite on the shoots, and are intensely green.
Flowering – The flowering is very abundant and begins at the end of March or the beginning of April. The first dark yellow flowers with wide petals, about 5 cm long, appear along the entire length of the leafless branches. The leaves are single, arranged opposite each other on the shoots, and are intensely green. They are elliptical in shape, both ends pointed, and range from 6 to 10 cm in length. In autumn, they slightly change color.
Growing conditions and requirements – The 'Flojor' variety is easy to grow and has no special soil requirements, so it can be planted almost anywhere. However, it grows best in fertile soils with moderate moisture and a slightly acidic to slightly alkaline pH. It requires a sunny or lightly shaded location. In wind-sheltered spots, it can bloom even two weeks earlier.
Care – To limit growth and maintain a neat shape, regular pruning of the bushes is recommended. Shaping cuts should be done twice a year. The first cuts should be made right after flowering, usually at about two-thirds of the length of the faded shoots. This helps thicken the bush. The second trimming can be done at the beginning of summer to stimulate the growth of the young shoots. Despite its low requirements, fertilizing the shrubs in spring and summer is advised, but no later than the end of August.
Application – Due to its decorative qualities and ease of cultivation, the 'Flojor' variety is ideal for planting both in urban green spaces and in home gardens. The bushes look most impressive when planted in groups. Cut branches can also serve as decoration, as they bloom indoors when placed in a vase with water.
