Very tolerant, prefers warm, sunny, and sheltered locations but also does well in partial shade. No special soil requirements – prefers moderately fertile and moist soils. A low, spreading shrub with wide-reaching branches.

A beautifully flowering ornamental shrub, sometimes blooming as early as mid-April. The leaves are healthy, glossy, and dark green. The fruits are numerous, hard, and often used for preserves. Very tolerant, prefers sunny, warm, and sheltered locations. A low, spreading shrub with widely spreading branches.

Use: Grows up to 60–120 cm tall. Plant spacing: 50 cm.

Fruit and flowering: Numerous hard, fragrant fruits, greenish-yellow with red spots, apple-shaped, ripen in autumn and are suitable for jams and jellies. Fruiting time: September. Blooms in early spring, sometimes from mid-April. Flowers are orange, single, blooming before the leaves appear, and grouped in clusters. Deciduous leaves.

Care: Requires a lot of light. No special soil requirements – tolerates many soil types, though prefers moist conditions.

Pruning: Suitable for low hedges, borders, and small gardens. Can also be used in public greenery as a ground cover plant.
