A sprawling shrub growing up to 2-3 meters in height and width. It is completely frost-resistant, durable against drought and air pollution. The Cornelian cherry is often planted in new housing estates.
Application: This variety can be planted singly or in groups. It is suitable for wide alleys or informal hedges. It stands out beautifully in home gardens. Due to its resistance to pollution, it is planted in green spaces in cities.
Flowering and fruiting: The leaves are variegated in an intense green shade, which is further decorated with large white edges with an irregular outline. In early September, the leaf stalks, and later the shoots, turn red and stay that way throughout the winter, making the shrub look very striking even after losing its leaves. The flowers and fruits are rather inconspicuous.
Care: The Cornelian cherry grows best in wet or peaty soils rich in nutrients. It also does well on sandy and clay soils. It colors best when grown in full sun, but it also looks good in partial shade.
Pruning: The Cornelian cherry should be pruned in spring, right after the leaves appear. This procedure rejuvenates the plant. You can cut a few of the oldest shoots.
