This shrub has a slightly rounded habit with dense shoots. The leaves are dark green on the top and light green with white hairs on the underside, with a serrated edge. They emit an aromatic, pleasant fragrance. This currant has dark red flowers with a white center, hanging in clusters 7-8 cm long. The flowers appear along with the leaves in May.
The fruits are dark navy blue, not very tasty, but they are not poisonous either — they are an excellent food source for birds. So, having such a shrub in the garden, we can expect plenty of visitors.
In our climate, this currant rarely sets fruit. It is a very easy variety to grow. It thrives on moderately fertile, slightly acidic, and moderately moist soils. It prefers sunny or partially shaded locations.
