Clematis 'Mary Rose' is a variety from the viticella group. It grows up to 2–2.5 m in height and climbs using leaf petioles. The stems are thin and delicate, and the leaves are composed of 5–7 small, entire, green leaflets. The flowers are always double, violet-purple with a greyish tint, small, and measure 3–6 cm in diameter, with a retro style. 'Mary Rose' blooms from June to September. It is a healthy, undemanding cultivar that grows well in average, moderately moist, well-drained garden soils in sunny to semi-shaded positions. In spring, it should be pruned to 50 cm above the ground. Recommended for planting near arbours, trellises, and other openwork garden supports. Suitable for container cultivation.
