A charming, very vigorously growing climber with green leaves lasting until early November. In summer and autumn it is covered with masses of star‑shaped, lightly fragrant flowers. The plant looks beautiful both in the garden and in containers on balconies or terraces. It is frost‑resistant and undemanding. It can be successfully grown throughout Poland.
Use: It climbs wonderfully over pergolas, fences, walls, arbours, trellises and natural supports such as coniferous and deciduous trees, shrubs and subshrubs. It also grows very well in large containers on balconies, terraces and in small gardens. It can also be used as a ground‑covering or screening plant.
Flowering: July–October.
Care: Plant the clematis 5–10 cm deeper than it grew in the pot and at least 30 cm away from other plants or walls. Mulch the soil around the plant with bark. Shade the base with small shrubs, and before winter cover it with bark up to 10–20 cm. It grows best in fertile, humus‑rich, calcium‑rich (pH 6–7) and airy soil. Fertilise from April and water intensively during the growing season.
Pruning: It flowers in spring on last year’s shoots, so at the turn of February and March remove dead and diseased stems, and prune healthy ones lightly: in the first year cut 30 cm above the ground above strong buds, in the second year 70 cm, and in subsequent years 150 cm above the ground.
