Use: Can be planted near small trees or shrubs, arbours and other supports. Can also be used as a groundcover plant. Flowering: June–September. Position: Requires a sunny location but tolerates average soil. Care: Plant 5–10 cm deeper than it grew in the pot and at least 30 cm away from other plants or walls. Mulch the soil around the plant with bark. Shade the base with low shrubs and before winter mound bark up to 10–20 cm. Grows best in fertile, humus‑rich, calcium‑rich (pH 6–7), well‑aerated soil. Fertilise from April and water generously during the growing season. Pruning: Flowers on new wood, so prune hard in late February–March. In the first year cut 30 cm above ground, in the second year 40 cm, and in subsequent years 50 cm.
