A reliable, old and well‑proven variety bred in England, successfully cultivated throughout Poland. Very healthy, exceptionally hardy and vigorous, growing up to 2–3 m and flowering extremely abundantly. It produces beautiful, large violet‑blue flowers with green stamens. The plant looks stunning both in the garden and in containers on balconies or terraces.
Use: Excellent for climbing over pergolas, fences, walls, gazebos, trellises and natural supports such as conifers, deciduous trees, shrubs and small bushes. It also grows beautifully in large containers on balconies, terraces and in small gardens.
Flowering: From late June to October. It blooms reliably, abundantly and is very easy to grow.
Exposure: Any.
Care: Plant the clematis 5 cm deeper than it grew in the pot and at least 30 cm away from other plants or walls. Mulch the soil around the plant with bark. Shade the base with low shrubs or perennials, and before winter cover it with bark up to 10–20 cm. It grows best in fertile, humus‑rich, well‑aerated soil rich in calcium, with a pH of 6–7. Fertilise from April and water generously during the growing season.
Pruning: This variety flowers on the current year’s shoots, so prune hard at the turn of February and March. In the first year cut to 30 cm above ground level, in the second year to 40 cm, and in subsequent years to 50 cm.
