A wonderful and extremely impressive Polish variety, frost-resistant and low-maintenance, growing quite vigorously (2–3 m), with exceptionally large purple flowers and purple stamens. It blooms abundantly twice a year!!!
Use: It climbs beautifully over pergolas, fences, walls, gazebos, trellises and natural supports such as coniferous and deciduous trees, shrubs and subshrubs.
Flowering: From May to July and again in September.
Exposure: Any.
Care: Plant clematis 5 cm deeper than it grew in the pot and at least 30 cm away from other plants or walls. Mulch the soil around the plant with bark. Shade the base, e.g. with low shrubs, and before winter cover the base with bark up to 10–20 cm. It grows best in fertile, humus-rich, calcium-rich (pH 6–7) and well-aerated soil. Fertilize from April and water intensively during the growing season.
Pruning: Spring flowering occurs on last year’s shoots. Therefore, at the turn of February and March remove dead and diseased shoots, and prune live and healthy ones lightly: in the first year after planting 30 cm above the ground over strong buds, in the second year 70 cm, and in the following years 150 cm above the ground.
