A variety belonging to the early‑flowering large‑flowered group. It grows 2–3 m tall. Originates from Japan.
Application: It climbs beautifully using its leaf petioles over pergolas, fences, walls, gazebos, trellises and natural supports such as coniferous and deciduous trees, shrubs and subshrubs.
Flowering: The flowers are almost round and reach up to 12 cm. Flowering occurs from late May to June. It is distinguished by its rare, eye‑catching colour. The petals are salmon‑pink, and the stamens are yellow.
Exposure: Prefers sunny or semi‑shaded positions.
Care: Plant the clematis 5–10 cm deeper than it grew in the pot and at least 30 cm away from other plants or walls. Mulch the soil around the plant with bark. Shade the base with low shrubs and before winter cover it with bark up to 10–20 cm. It grows best in fertile, humus‑rich, calcium‑rich (pH 6–7) and well‑aerated soils. Fertilize from April and water intensively during the growing season.
Pruning: Spring flowering occurs on last year’s shoots, so at the turn of February and March remove dead and diseased stems, and prune healthy ones lightly: in the first year 30 cm above the ground above strong buds, in the second year 70 cm, and in subsequent years 150 cm above the ground.
