This is one of the first clematis varieties with golden‑yellow leaves. The violet‑blue flowers contrast beautifully with the leaf colour. It can be used as a groundcover or a climbing plant. It grows up to 2–3 m in height.
Application: Particularly useful for planting near various types of fences, stones, tree trunks, deciduous or coniferous shrubs. It is successfully used as a groundcover plant. It climbs supports on its own thanks to its leaf petioles.
Flowering: Small, violet‑blue, bell‑shaped flowers, 5–6 cm in diameter, opening widely and composed of 4–8 lanceolate tepals. It blooms at the end of April and in May. It blooms again in summer, but more weakly.
Care: Undemanding and frost‑resistant. Prefers semi‑shade, but colours beautifully in a well‑lit location.
Pruning: Does not require pruning.
