A German early‑flowering large‑flowered variety with star‑shaped blossoms in delicate pink with a violet stripe. Blooms once but for a very long period. Prefers sunny, warm, wind‑sheltered locations. Highly frost hardy. Ideal for pergolas, gazebos, and fences. Soil should be fertile, humus‑rich, well‑drained, and moist, pH 6.0–7.0.
A variety belonging to the early‑flowering large‑flowered group. It grows 1–1.5 m tall and originates from Germany. It climbs beautifully over pergolas, fences, walls, gazebos, trellises, and natural supports such as coniferous and deciduous trees, shrubs, and subshrubs.
Flowering: Flowers are lilac‑pink with a dark violet stripe down the center. Petal edges are slightly wavy. Stamens are dark violet. Blooms from May to August.
Exposure: Any aspect.
Care: Plant 5 cm deeper than it grew in the pot and at least 30 cm away from other plants or walls. Mulch the soil around the plant with bark. Shade the base with low shrubs or perennials, and before winter mound bark around the base to a height of 10–20 cm. It grows best in fertile, humus‑rich, airy soils rich in calcium (pH 6–7). Fertilize from April and water generously during the growing season.
Pruning: Spring flowering occurs on last year’s shoots. Therefore, in late February or early March remove dead and diseased stems, and prune healthy ones lightly: in the first year cut to 30 cm above ground, in the second year to 70 cm, and in subsequent years to 150 cm.
