A very popular worldwide, extremely spectacular, medium-growing (2–3 m) variety with large dark red flowers. The plant looks beautiful both in the garden and in pots on a balcony or terrace. It is frost-hardy and undemanding. This clematis has large 14 cm flowers, velvety, dark red. It prefers a bright but not hot position, sheltered from the wind. It does not like heavy, clay soils or very light ones. The soil should be fertile, humus-rich, permeable and moist, pH 6.0–7.0.
A very popular worldwide, extremely spectacular, medium-growing (2–3 m) variety with large dark red flowers. The plant looks beautiful both in the garden and in pots on a balcony or terrace, is frost-hardy and undemanding. Ideal for growing in Polish climatic conditions. Blooms exceptionally abundantly!!!
Use: Climbs beautifully on pergolas, fences, walls, gazebos, trellises and natural supports such as coniferous and deciduous trees, shrubs and small bushes. Grows wonderfully in large pots on balconies, terraces and in small gardens.
Flowering: From May to June and again in August.
Exposure: Any.
Care: Clematis should be planted 5 cm deeper than it grew in the pot and at least 30 cm away from other plants or walls. Mulch the soil around the plant with bark. Shade the base, e.g. with low shrubs, and before winter mound bark up to a height of 10–20 cm. Grows best in fertile, humus-rich, airy soils rich in calcium (pH 6–7). Fertilize from April and water intensively during the growing season.
Pruning: Spring flowering occurs on last year's shoots, therefore at the turn of February and March remove dead and diseased shoots, and prune healthy ones lightly: in the first year after planting cut to 30 cm above strong buds, in the second year to 70 cm, and in subsequent years to 150 cm above the ground.
