Vigorously growing (3 – 4m), a very interesting variety with beautiful, very large, dark blue flowers with creamy-yellow stamens. The plant looks beautiful both in the garden and in pots on the balcony or terrace, it is frost-resistant and low-maintenance.
This is a magnificent, very original variety. It reaches a height of 2 m and produces full, deep blue‑violet flowers with a white center and green stamens, while the outer petals are red‑violet. The variety is frost‑resistant, low‑maintenance, and easy to grow.
Application: It climbs wonderfully on pergolas, gazebos, and trellises. It prefers warm, sunny locations that are sheltered from strong and cold winds. It grows beautifully in gardens as well as in pots on balconies or terraces.
Blooming: From early June to September.
Exposure: Suitable for southern, eastern, and western orientations.
Care: Plant the clematis 5 cm deeper than it grew in the pot and at least 30 cm away from other plants or walls. Mulch the soil around the plant with bark. Provide some shade for the base by, for example, planting low‑growing shrubs, and before winter cover the base with bark up to a height of 10–20 cm. It grows best in fertile, well‑draining, humus‑rich, and moderately moist soil.
Pruning: Since this variety blooms on current‑year shoots, we prune at the turn of February and March by removing dead and diseased shoots and lightly trimming the healthy ones – in the first year after planting, cut about 30 cm above the strong buds; in the second year, about 40 cm; and in subsequent years, about 50 cm above the ground.
