Care and Requirements: It prefers sunny locations (with shade around the roots). It is a moderately demanding plant that grows best in humus‑rich, fertile, well‑draining, and not overly wet soils. Regular fertilization is recommended from April onward. The Miss Bateman variety is exceptionally frost‑resistant.
Blooming: This variety blooms beautifully and abundantly. From May to June, numerous large (12–15 cm) white star‑shaped flowers appear; sometimes they are decorated with a green stripe. It blooms a second time around August. During the growing season, heavy watering is recommended. Please note that the flowers appear on last year’s shoots, so it is best not to prune them.
Planting: When planting, ensure that the lower part of the vine is sheltered/has shade, for example by taller shrubs. It is recommended to mulch the plant with bark, which protects against weed overgrowth and soil drying.
Pruning: Light pruning is recommended in late autumn or early spring, consisting of removing damaged or dead branches and shortening the remainder by about 20 cm.
