Early blooming variety of clematis. It reaches a final height of about 2–2.5 m. This clematis is hardy throughout our entire climate zone.
Application: This variety climbs by means of tendrils and requires climbing support such as fences, wires, ropes, etc. It is ideal for pergolas, wooden trellises, or old trees, provided that the support's diameter is no greater than 3 cm.
Blooming: It blooms from May until October. The flowers are white, large, with a subtle violet tint along the edges.
Exposure: Suitable for any exposure, but it does not like to be in direct, harsh sunlight all day.
Care: Plant the clematis 5 cm deeper than it grew in the pot and at least 30 cm away from other plants or walls. Mulch the soil around the plant with bark. Provide some shade to the base (for example, with low shrubs) and before winter, cover the base with bark up to a height of 10–20 cm. It grows best in fertile, humus-rich, well-draining soils that are rich in calcium (pH 6–7). Begin fertilizing in April, and water intensively during the growing season.
Pruning: Since the spring bloom appears on last year’s shoots, dead and diseased stems are pruned at the turn of February and March, while the healthy, living ones are only lightly pruned. In the first year after planting, cut about 30 cm above the strong buds; in the second year, about 70 cm; and in subsequent years, 100–150 cm above the ground.
