A grass forming dense clumps up to 1.5 m tall, with very attractive purple inflorescences. The leaves are linear, arching, green with a distinct silvery midrib. It flowers in August and September — the inflorescences are very characteristic and twisted. The panicles are purple‑red, turning beige and silvery after flowering. Even after blooming, the plant remains highly ornamental. It prefers sunny to semi‑shaded locations and thrives in fertile, slightly moist, slightly acidic soils. Ideal for private gardens, residential plantings, urban and public greenery, perennial borders and prairie gardens. It also performs well near ponds, water gardens and wetlands. Perfect for parks, home gardens and naturalistic plantings. Care is simple: in spring, cut the clump back to 5–15 cm to ensure healthy growth and abundant flowering.
