Chinese Miscanthus Adagio is a perennial grass that forms beautiful clumps. This variety is relatively low (50–60 cm, reaching up to 80 cm during flowering). It has a compact habit. The leaves are grey-green, narrow, and turn yellow in autumn. The inflorescences form pinkish panicles that appear in mid-August and decorate the plant until the end of the growing season. They are also attractive in winter as they turn whitish.
It requires fertile, moist soil and a sunny or slightly shaded location. The site should preferably be sheltered from strong and cold winds. Young plants should be protected from frost.
Miscanthus is perfect for planting in containers. It grows well on balconies and terraces and makes an original decoration for both home and garden.
