This is a type of ornamental grass with very vigorous growth. It stands out from other miscanthus varieties with its wide leaves, which are irregularly and horizontally striped in creamy tones. It is also distinguished by being one of the tallest ornamental grasses, reaching up to 2 m in height. The outer leaves arch slightly, while the inner ones remain upright. The stripes appear on older plants; young specimens often do not have them at all.
The plant reaches its final form 2–3 years after planting. The colour of the inflorescences is described as pink‑red, though sometimes the flowers shimmer in beige or brown tones. The inflorescences remain on the plant until spring and are a major decorative feature, as the leaves lose their charm over winter.
Young plants should be covered for winter, as they are less frost‑resistant than mature ones. Miscanthus prefers sunny, warm locations. The soil should be fertile and moderately moist. In spring, the grass should be cut back, taking care not to damage emerging new shoots.
