Chinese Silvergrass ‘Silberspinne’ is a very ornamental and tall variety. It forms large, dense clumps composed of long leaves. They are narrow at the base and widen towards the top. The leaves arch outward, creating fountain‑shaped mounds.
The inflorescences are highly decorative and appear at the end of summer. At first, they have a slightly pink colour, later turning silvery.
It prefers sunny, warm locations sheltered from strong and cold winds. The soil should be fertile, well‑drained and moderately moist. The plant is frost‑resistant, but young specimens should be covered for winter with branches or sawdust.
This miscanthus looks beautiful near ponds, in home gardens or in urban greenery.
