Chinese Miscanthus is a unique variety because the shape of its leaves resembles a small fountain, and its flower heads, which grow up to 150 cm, are also very fluffy. 'Herman Mussel' starts blooming at the end of summer, but its growth begins as early as May, and its rapid growth makes it look beautiful already in June. Its large, silvery-white flower heads attract attention and are an incredible decoration. The plumes of the grass remain until spring, making it look almost fairy-tale-like in the winter garden.

This ornamental grass prefers fertile and moderately moist soil. It thrives in a warm, sunny spot. It also accepts slightly shaded locations, but care should be taken, as too much shade will cause the plant to become pale, stretch out, and eventually die. Miscanthus is frost-resistant, but young plants should be covered for the winter, for example with mulch, dry leaves, or evergreen branches.
