In Polish conditions, it grows up to 2 meters tall. Its small flowers are gathered in long, blue panicles about 30 cm long, with a very intense fragrance, blooming at the ends of the shoots and creating a stunning garden decoration. The leaves are opposite, lance-shaped, and covered underneath with a white fuzz in shades of gray, bluish, and silvery. They fall off in winter. This plant is not frost-hardy, so it needs to be protected for the winter. Prefers a warm, sunny, and wind-sheltered location. Requires fertile, well-drained soil.
Flowering: This shrub blooms very profusely and for a long time, starting in July and ending in September. Buddleja flowers are highly ornamental and intensely fragrant, which attracts butterflies and other insects. In some countries, it is called the "butterfly bush". Blooms on current-year shoots.
Pruning: It is recommended to prune it short (preferably at the turn of April and May, just after removing the winter mound). After flowering, it is good to cut back the shoots by half to prevent damage from heavy snow.
Uses: Buddleja davidii is perfect for planting near pergolas, terraces, or at the front of houses, as it is a very decorative shrub and adds a magical charm. Recommended for home gardens, planted individually or in groups, in compositions with other plants.
